Detoxification is a normal process that is ongoing in every organism.  Sometimes there is an accumulation of toxins due to increased load, lifestyle or a weakness in one of the organs of detoxification.  This increase in toxicity can cause a variety of problems:

Proper detoxification includes assessing which detoxification organs and system are weak and re-establishing normal function.  Changes to diet, lifestyle and certain medicines or treatments will amplify the process.  Not everyone is suitable for a full detoxification program and will do much better with general rebalancing.  Intake and physical examination will help determine the best course of action.
